Krav Maga: Israeli Martial Art

Literally translated as “close combat” or “contact combat,” Krav Maga is one of the most lethally effective hand-to-hand combat techniques in the world. It was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, a Czech-born former heavyweight boxing champion trained in self-defense tactics by his father, a police officer. In 1940, facing Nazi persecution, Lichtenfeld was forced to emigrate to what was then Palestine (now Israel). After the formation of an Israeli state in 1948, he was asked to develop self-defense and hand-to-hand combat techniques for the elite units of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The Principles of Krav Maga: Krav Maga is a combat oriented martial art that was later modified to have more civilian self defense aspects. The core principles of Krav Maga are

Avoid injury

Defend and attack as quickly as possible

Use the body's natural reflexes

Take advantage of your opponent's vulnerable points

Use any tool or weapon at your disposal

Techniques

Krav Maga consists of kicks and punches similar to those used in other martial arts. Also used are elbows, knees, joint locks, throws and some weapon disarm techniques.

The Krav Maga is not an mixed martial art system, rather, it was developed with the perception that the classic martial arts were lacking various elements. The defense needs in the eras that the classic martial arts were developed were different than those of today. New unique techniques for defense against pistols, guns and hand grenades were considered needed, and therefore developed.

Krav Maga has no katas or specific sequences that must be followed. Students use the basic moves in conjunction with any one of a number of other moves to fend off an attack, the key idea being adaptability to new situations through improvisation. Emphasis is put on speed, endurance, strength, accuracy and co-ordination especially for intensive Krav Maga training.

Sambo: The Russian Martial Art

The founders of Sambo relentlessly searched through all of the worlds martial arts to solidify the elite Russian Military hand-to-hand combat system. Sambo became the first eclectic method of combining many styles to form one style. In essence it was the first true mixed martial arts training. Sambo is a combination of wrestling, karate, judo, jujitsu, boxing, and kickboxing to name a few.

Each technique was carefully dissected and considered for its merits, and if found acceptable in unarmed combat, refined to reach Sambo's ultimate goal, to stop an armed or unarmed adversary in the least time possible. Bruce Lee was also an innovator and was quoted as saying, "Take what is useful and use it and what is not useful throw it away."

Bruce was referring to martial arts because many of the techniques that are taught are not useful in a real fight. Many of the techniques taught look good and sound good on paper, are ineffective in a real situation and will only serve in getting one in a compromising situation.

Discipline and the ability to instantly estimate the complex situation of a battle, to make the right decision with a lightning speed, and to govern ones own body is the object of pursuit of any combat art. To anticipate the action before action is required is being keenly aware of your surroundings and the possible conflict that can occur with-in the moment.

However, it's insufficient just to master the close fighting art. It is also necessary to possess a strong spirit and be ready to give your life to defend what is important to the individual. The genuine close combat is effective even when he or she has to act rightly, in an unpredictable situation, when there is no time to spot and think, and no mistake is permissible.

Sambo has been tested in so-called hot spots and showed its military efficiency, saving the lives of those who mastered it. Its detachment have conducted operations to stop illegal drug and arms trade, to fight against customs crimes, and to provide personal security for customs officers and their relatives, or even to rescue hostages. The close fighting, as well as each phenomenon in our lives, is governed by certain laws. The same is true for the close fight psychology.

Modern combat Sambo is renown for its aggressive style and rigorous training. It includes techniques that are dangerous and prohibited in sport MMA. The elite Red Army are renown the world over for the brutal training the solders must pass through before being accepted as an elite solder.

The philosophy behind the training, "to survive". To survive is to push the mind body to the outer limits to visualize the complete endurance that the person is capable of. Once the outer limitations can be achieved does the person ever recognize how true life is and the importance of the survival of the spirit. To have a complete disregard for ones own limitations to serve the better good of other members. The frigid cold nor the searing heat can concur the warriors spirit and the mission will be completed at all cost.

There are some schools that teach Sambo in the U.S.

Get Smart Quick and Learn Martial Arts Quick

How to Get Smart

Set your self a goal and leave it aside for now.

Think of what Subject you want to be smart in.

Do a 5-page assay on it to get your mind into it If you can't be bothered then you won't get very smart very quick.

Now that you have done an assay on it you should practice in it eg. If you what Smart in maths do maths

You should do this for about 3 months and Walla, no need for those 12 years in School but it would be good for you to go in those 12 years of school.

How to Learn Martial Arts

First I think you should check you area for any martial arts clubs eg. Karate judo
    Clubs.

Then if there is no clubs listen to me (I'm a black belt) First start with a basic kick In the air and repeat until you can kick you about you height minus 30cm. 2 weeks plus to master.

Now on to a punch slowly punch in air 25 times for warming your muscles up then start on a punching bag if you have no punching bag I suggest you bring a lot of news paper 5 pillow cases then put each pillow cases in each other to make a strong bag the put about 10kg of wet news paper then live it out to dry after all that you can tie it up and punch on it for 2 week to master a punch.

So you now know how to punch and kick fantastically now on to something hard you must kick the punching bag until it moves at least 50cm-1.5m then punch it till it goes 30cm-1m. Then try moves like flips, dodging things and don't try what you see in the movies half the time it impossible to do.

But heres the bit where your going to need to practice for months doing things like uppercuts, low kicks, high kicks and more and the punching bag will help you help you a lot. When you have mastered all of these things I wouldn't say you're a black belt but you're on your way and you should really try to find a dojo (karate club). If you finally found a dojo to train in that's great if not scroll down and read some more.

This is where most people get tired after about 3-4 months of martial arts but if your determined enough you'll keep reading ok this is simple and can get tricky put 1 foot up and the other on the ground and balance for as long as you can (try timing yourself) then record your time until after about 1-2 months your time should be from 20 to 60 seconds. If you get more I recommend swapping feet LOL.

The near end of your training all you have to do know is to find a club or dojo if you can't then just read more articles on the internet or from books.

Judo - Maximum Efficiency

For some people it may look like a bunch of people wrestling around on mats in white or blue PJs trying to flip each other over, however, for the individuals who play the game, Judo is much more than that. It’s more like a game of chess on two feet… where you need to be at least one move ahead of your opponent, and always thinking of what you’re going to do next.

Judo was brought to the Olympic Games in 1964 and is practiced by millions of people throughout the world today. People practice Judo for a lot reasons, but mostly to excel in competition, or to stay in shape, to develop self-confidence. But most of all, people do Judo just for the fun of it.

Kodokan Judo comes to us from the fighting system of feudal Japan. Founded in 1882 by Dr. Jigoro Kano, Judo is the cultivation of the ancient martial art of Jujutsu. Dr. Kano, President of the University of Education, Tokyo, studied these ancient forms and completed what he considered to be the best of their techniques into what is now the modern sport of Judo. When translated into basic English, Judo means “gentle way”.

As in all sports, Judo has its very own set of rules that governs competition and ensures safety. For those who want to compete, Judo offers the opportunity at all skill levels, from club to national tournaments, to the Olympic Games. There weight divisions vary for men, women, and boys and girls.

Judo is best known for it's amazing throwing techniques but also involves grappling that involves control holds, arm locks, and choking techniques. It’s for all age groups, both sexes, and can accommodate most disabled persons. Judo is an economical, year-round activity that appeals to people from all walks of life. Many people in their later years of life enjoy the sport, as well as the very young.

Self-discipline and respect for oneself and others are some of the key ingredients taught in Judo, as well as self-confidence, concentration, leadership, physical coordination, power, and flexibility.

The principles of Judo, such as "Maximum Efficiency" and "Mutual Welfare and Benefit", can also be used in everyday life. The ultimate goal in Judo is to develop oneself to the maximum effect so, always putting 100% into everything we do so that we’ll always be of greatest benefit possible to the world.
