Sunday Football Fluke

The NFL football game between the Giants and the Cowboys was a fluke. My class debated constantly on who was going to win. It was only last week when we figured out that the result would be tainted due to an injury to a Tony Romo. The Cowboys, using their backup quarterback stood no chance to the Giants. I believe the game should be replayed later when Romo has healed just so the football fans will get to see what the real outcome should be. I want to see this rematch. The game was meant to be one of the best ones this season, and because of the injury it became one of the most boring flukes of the season. I love football, but I hate when the results of a game are tainted due to an injury. I want to see a real game between Tony Romo and Eli Manning. That would be great.

In other football news, the Jets had a great win over the Buffalo Bills. There was no doubt in my mind who would win this one. Also, by playing in that game, Bret Favre made a new record for the most wins in the most stadiums. Bret Favre is an unbelievable player, especially at his age.

The last game I watched last night was NBC's game of the week between the Colts and the Patriots. That was a very close game and it kept me on edge up to the very end. The Colts turned out winning by just 3 points. It was a great Sunday night and I can't wait for next week.

Top 10 QBs of the NFL

It's football season once again and the debates of who is the best here and who is the best there are running rampant all over the Internet. So I thought I would get into the act and throw my top ten list of the best QBs in the NFL. My list is based on regular season ability, but there might be some post season biased in here. Also I did not account for the Brett Favre factor and that is a QB who retires then comes back and then retires again and then wants to be traded and the doesn't want to be traded…ah you get the point. The list goes from number 10 all the way up to number 1. Enjoy!

Seattle Seahawks - Matt Hasslebeck

It is hard to believe he was in the Superbowl just a couple of years ago, but his Seahawks are falling fast. They are a mediocre team that plays in a really bad division. Nevertheless Hasslebeck makes it on my list at #10 because he is still a pretty good QB even though his team isn't as good.

San Diego Chargers - Phillip Rivers

Phillip Rivers lead his Chargers to the AFC title game a year ago where they were upended by the once unbeaten Patriots. He showed a lot of guts and grit playing through an injury. I give Rivers a lot of props because the week earlier Tomlinson got on Rivers' case when Rivers took himself out the game because of an injury yet Tomlinson had the audacity to take himself out of the most important game of the year, yet Rivers said nothing.

NY Giants - Eli Manning

Coming off a great post season, including a Superbowl MVP performance, Eli Manning is poised to have his “breakout” year during the regular season. Up until the post season Manning was up and down like a bad roller coaster. Gone is Jeremy Shockey who many thought in the media was the reason why he struggled due the arm flailing and sideline antics. We shall soon see.

Cincinnati Bengals - Carson Palmer

Even though he may have one of the best wide receiver tandems in the league Palmer is a quality all pro quarterback who is a good leader on the field. The only thing missing is the post season experience and if defensive guru head coach Marvin Lewis can figure out how to actually give the Bengals a defense they could be in business.

Dallas Cowboys - Tony Romo

Ok as a Giants fan myself this one is painful to write but lets face facts Tony Romo is a pretty darned good football player, he was third in the NFL in yards a year ago with 4,211 and that put him only behind Tom Brady and Drew Brees. Although he hasn't won a playoff game yet, he has the tools to do so, maybe next time he'll leave his girlfriend in Mexico or at home in a closet somewhere.

New Orleans Saints - Drew Brees

He was the QB nobody wanted yet all he does is win. Sure he had an off year last season even though he lead the NFL with 440 completions and 652 attempts, but he was able to lead the Saints to the NFC Championship game a year earlier against the Bears. With the addition of Jeremy Shockey, Brees should put up some bigger numbers this year as the Saints will more than likely rebound and contend for the division and a playoff spot.

Pittsburgh Steelers - Ben Rothlisberger

I like this kid. He has size, skill and leadership qualities. Although he does have a Superbowl ring, it was not because of his play as to the reasons why they won, but nonetheless he still had to lead his team during the regular season to do so. In head coach Tomlin's first year with the Steelers, Big Ben delivered a playoff birth with his fine QB play, and his 104.1 QB rating which put him second only behind Tom Brady.

Philadelphia Eagles - Donovan McNabb

I will never understand for the life of me why a guy who has lead a franchise to 4 NFC Championship games and a Superbowl appearance gets so little credit for being a superstar. Last year he was coming off an injury he had suffered the year before and as the season went on he was getting better which is going to make the NFC East a lot fun this year. He threw only 7 picks last year ranking him 5th in the NFL for fewest picks by a QB and 3rd fewest by an NFL starter. With Westbrook in the backfield and the wide receiver position being securely locked by….oh wait they don't have any receivers….good luck again Donovan!

Indianapolis Colts - Peyton Manning

We already saw younger brother Eli in this list at #8 and here is big brother Peyton. If this were a list for QBs doing commercials Peyton would be #1 through #10. He is definitely a first ballot future hall of famer and if he can figure out how not to have bad games against the Chargers he just might help deliver a second title to Indianapolis.

New England Patriots - Tom Brady

The king of the position as it currently stands is New England's Tom Brady. Although his offensive line failed him in what may be the most important game in his life, a chance to go undefeated, Tom Brady is till far and away the guy you would build your team around. Randy Moss looked like his career was all but over until the Patriots traded away a fourth round pick for him to the Raiders. Now Moss and Brady are the most lethal combination in football and it all starts with Brady who is without a doubt the best in the business right now.

So there you have it, my top ten list of QBs as we head into the new season.
