In recent years, we've seen the government get involved with the steroid investigation in baseball, the issue between cable companies and the NFL over their channel the NFL Network; and finally, the cause of this piece, the recent suspensions of NFL players over their use of a banned substance. First, take a look at the investigation over steroids. Whether you are a fan of Barry Bonds or not; whether you think he took steroids or not; do you realize this man faces years in prison as he's been charged with purgery? Take a second….now think about why Barry Bonds could be sentenced to prison. He allegedly lied….to Congress….about taking steroids. Can someone please answer me why he had to testify in the first place? Why should the government get involved when MLB chose to ignore it…. and it's their product.

In the case of the NFL; by far the most successful of professional sports; they were threatened financially by the government over keeping NFL Network only on DirecTV. Why wasn't it on cable? Because the cable companies refused to pay the asking price of the NFL. The price couldn't have been that bad, as the satellite companies paid it. So instead of letting capitalism do what it does… there is interference.

The recent incident involved the suspension of 6 NFL players as they tested positive for a banned substance in the NFL. The NFL clearly states that a player is responsible for anything he puts into his body. There is no middle ground on this; if you test positive for a substance that is banned… you are suspended for four games. This policy could not be any clearer; even the fans know this rule. Yet, these players test positive… and then we have a lawsuit. This Minnesota judge prevents the NFL from suspending these players for breaking the rules, they knew, they could not break. So now the courts are preventing the NFL….from punishing it's employees, for violating the rules. Just think about this for a moment.

I suppose I should be glad that no one is in this country is unemployed. No one is starving; poverty is not an issue; we don't have troops fighting on foreign soil; the economy isn't in a recession. I mean, the world must be perfect if our elected politicians have time to investigate something as trivial as a game.

Major League Baseball hired an independent committee headed up by former Senator George Mitchell. The report was really anti - climatic if you follow professional baseball. Nothing Earth shattering was revealed. Of course that is because the "fraternity" loyalty rules were applied and 99.9% of all present and past players refused to cooperate. And the couple that did like Jason Giambi only admitted what he already had admitted before. He refused to comment on or about any one else. Jose Conseco a steroid advocate, is the only player to buck the "fraternity" system. But he had already named people in a previously released book a few years ago.

The report centered on the testimony of two physical trainers. Kirk Radomski and Brian MacNamee. They both reportedly by their own admission supplied and in some cases administered steroids and HGH into some of their clients. All the players MacNamee outed have since corroborated his statements except Roger Clemens.

Now here is my angle. At the release of this information MacNamee had the credibility of a seedy crack dealer. Clemens on the other hand was on a pedestal in the baseball world. Of course the public airing of these accusations or alleged events were like stinky slime cast on the baseball superstar. But guilty or innocent Clemens turned up the fire into a 5 alarm blaze.

This is why I am making the assertion that Clemens could never run for public office. Why? Very simple. Any seasoned politician would have swerved his way around this scandal with little fanfare. A simple press conference announcing that you "appreciate the efforts of Senator Mitchell and MLB for trying to clean up the tarnished image of baseball. However you are genuinely surprised that your name surfaced in this manner. This is clearly an error and there is no need defend something you didn't do. He said vs he said is of no value so why make a scintillating story out of nothing. I am thankful for Mr. MacNamee's help in the past but I will not be dragged into a tit for tat debate."

However innocent or guilty one is in these cases, less is always more. The more he has said the more foolish he has appeared. He is legitimizing his accuser by condescending to his every point of the finger. It hit a climax on Wednesday February 13, 2008. Because of his gushing of the mouth when the story broke he was asked to appear before a House Committee in Washington, D.C. Had he kept it simple he would have clearly been given the benefit of the doubt considering his then public persona.

At this hearing however he looked desperate. At this point he has everyone around him involved implicating him. He admits that his wife was poked in the tush by the same guy with HGH. He admits that he was poked in the buttocks by MacNamee only not with steroids or HGH. Now mind you he may be giving us the harsh reality but a good politician would never, ever put his butt at the scene of the crime.

I must admit that watching a grown man throw everyone possible under the proverbial bus was entertaining to watch. He even made some odd reference to his deceased mother prodding him to try new drugs to help heal faster. Even his mom? Say it isn't so Roger.

In the end (pun intended), he may or may not make into the Hall of Fame as an inductee but with his incompetence in handling delicate and scandalous accusations he has ruled out any future as a politician.

The most talented athletes forsake their high school experience for that of more specialized and individualized training. This situation is forcing high schools to re-evaluate their already money-starved gymnastic programs. Clubs offer elite athletes the opportunity to compete at a higher level, receive more recognition and be scouted for a potential collegiate scholarship; something high schools simply can't offer.

Being judged by a human, rather than a scoreboard, leaves a lot of room for politics to become involved.

Remember the 2004 Olympics? Competition was stopped for 10 minutes due to the crowd's angry reaction to the judge's decision of a gymnastic event. Any time there is the human element involved in determining an outcome, there will be subjectivity. In this case, outright favoritism was blamed for the judge's irregularities in scoring the event.

Judges look at overall complexity of a routine, as well as, technical execution when determining a performers score. Basically, the harder the routine is to do, the more potential there is for point scoring. While a definite distinction exists for complex elements of a routine, it is up to a judge to determine the value of the execution. Fractions of a point are deducted for elements that judges feel weren't executed properly. A tenth of a point can be the difference between winning and losing. And as if that weren't enough, gymnasts are also judged on their appearance, the “rules of attendance”. The rules of attendance stipulate which leotards are appropriate and that there is no safety issue with any part of the wardrobe.

Some believe that this subjectivity makes gymnastics a better sport; others believe it holds it back. Whichever the case, it is part artistry, and that will always be subjective.

Martial Science now explain politics. Politics is all about run country, decide issue of rich and poor, who opinion win and who opinion lose. To explain politics, Sifu use three example of Democracy, Fascism, and Socialism. Democracy is idea that everyone have equal right to opinion, but that most popular opinion always win. Fascism is idea that there only one opinion, and everyone who disagree is wrong. Socialism idea that people should work together for good of all, not just for personal gain. It not so concerned what people think or like, only what them do.

Democracy come from ancient Greeks, where every city decide on laws based on vote. In first democracy, only rich Greeks allowed to vote. It take many, many years, maybe thousands of years, for Democracy idea to develop until everyone, even very poor, have right to vote and affect decisions of law in him country. Not everyone happy under Democracy; people who lose vote still got to go along with new laws. People who approve of old laws not allowed ignore new ones. Word "Anarchy" is also political system of belief. Anarchy not mean chaos; Anarchist is man who believe everybody must find consensus before make law; everybody must agree, or law no good and Anarchist do as him please. Democracy root cause for many advance in human thought and lifestyle, such as abolition of slavery and equal rights for women.

Problem with democracy; democracy very complicated to organize because it one strange idea. It not natural to human way of think. Normal way of think is to want own way over other man way; man must use intellect and reason for to see that sometimes other man way alright too. Democracy make big effort organize complex systems make sure everybody opinion heard. It get too complex, become dull and boring to ordinary people, people who then vote based on opinion about politicians rather than real issue at stake. Democracy become popularity contest, or argument about opinion; Democracy not infallible because it assume majority opinion always best all the time. Martial Science say there no one best way to do anything; there is only way that works and way that does not. So far, Democracy work okay, but that not mean it best.

Fascism is based on Roman idea; Ancient Romans use symbol of straw to illustrate tactics. One piece of straw is weak and easy broken, but big bundle many straws together is strong, hard to break. So far, this good Martial Science, but Fascism go on to say that all people should be the same. Martial Science disagree, say nature make people of all colors and shapes all over the whole world; nature not right or wrong, and natural people all different cultures and languages. No one culture best, no one culture worst, just as no one fighting style win every time no matter what. Fascism answer is to make opinion true by oppress and then exterminate all people who disagree. Fascism look for world where everyone is blond with blue eyes, no black or oriental, no variation at all, just all the same. In Fascism, everyone must agree or go to prison; no one have any say at all except man at the top; one man, one vote, and that man him, no question. Reason Fascism popular is that it is easy idea, simple for everyone. Martial Science show us that people want them own way pretty much all the time; idea that one man opinion is best very easy to understand. Reality is that things not always simple enough for one man decide alone and always be right. Fascist leaders famous for go mad from stress and ego of always have to be right, from Roman Emperors all the way to Hitler; them go bonkers more often than not, and this cast doubt on validity of Fascism as sensible way to run world.

Socialism is idea encompass many different opinion; most Socialist agree democracy good start. Socialist say everyone have right to job and food and house; Socialism say everyone have right to live in peace and have doctor when get sick. Socialism say name not better because him richer, man not better because him father famous. Socialism say all people valuable the same. Fascism say everyone worth nothing alone, only worthwhile people is whole lot of people; Socialism say one person just as deserving as whole bunch of everyone else. Socialism say people basically good and have right to their own opinions. So why Socialism unpopular? For start, Socialism even more complex idea than Democracy; not just idea that everyone equal, but that man who have much should give it away to man who have little. This one strange idea, hard to understand, make people angry think them going to lose house and car and big bank account if Socialist ever get him way. This idea made up by people like king and baron, people who live in mansion and castle, people with ten car and own private jet, who control 90% of all money in the whole world. These people lose very bad under Socialism, them have to go back and be normal folks again, but them so rich and special them use money to make Socialism sound like worst idea in all of history. Martial Science say this only human nature; man with much not give it away unless him very wise and enlightened. Wise and enlightened man very rare; men not so wise are scared to lose what them have, scared of Socialism because it such a strange idea that peoples could all live together without greed or fighting.
