Chicken on a Chain is a Lot of Bull

Professional Bull Riding is a fairly new sport as a stand alone, started in 1992 by 20 bull riders hoping to see professional bull riders recognized as mainstream professional athletes. The sport now has divisions in Canada, Mexico, Australia and Brazil as well as the United States. Events often bring riders from the ranch to the urban environment to perform in large arenas to sizable crowds who follow individual riders closely. Competitions result in financial prizes to the winners.

Here's the recap on all the bull any bull rider can handle (that would probably be Chicken on a Chain) - June 6th and 7th, 2008 Git R Done Invitational, hosted by Tate Porter and presented by Cooper Tires in Orlando, Florida. This Professional Bull Rider event had plenty of action as riders quickly went up and down with their scores more than a roller coaster ride. As an oversimplified introduction to the sport, the main idea is to ride that bull without falling off for 8 seconds. Some of you are saying, “ Eight seconds? That's no big deal.”

To give you a little taste for this event:

Event Winner: Sean Williamson, wins $24,500

Foreign competitors included Guilherme Marchi, Renato Nunes, Valdironde Oliveira, and Ednei Caminha

Among the bulls: Chicken on a Chain, Snake Eyes, and El Gato

Advertisers include: Ford Trucks, Montana Tractors, Dickies, Wranglers, Copenhagen, Budlite, Jack Daniels, Amway, U.S Air Force, and BorderPatrol.gov

Memorable characterization regarding Cord McCoy: “He's so nice he could charm the ticks off a mule deer.”

Check out the doctor to the stars: Dr Tandy Freeman

Upcoming Event: Dickies American Worker of the Year Invitational presented by Pike Electric, Dallas, TX, June 21 and 22nd. Sean Williamson will challenge L.J. Jenkins in the Grudge Match, and defending World Champion Justin McBride makes a comeback from an injury. Justin also has a CD, “Don't Let Go.”

Short Attention Span: Bulls Are for You

What better sport for the short sport attention span American than Professional Bull Riding? You can watch young hunks hang on to the back of a bull for a death-defying multi-second ride with the bull having as much chance of coming out the winner as the young man. If you want a little international flavor, no problemo; Australia, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil have their own PBR divisions. Some riders compete in United States events.

If you're looking for a little escapism to a simpler paradigm, and who isn't, try watching a little professional bull riding, go to Professional Bull Riders for all the information you need from Bull Riding 101 to telecasts and live show information. You can catch some Youtube live action. You can follow your favorite cowboys and favorite bulls.

Bull riding is just another way that big city and rural America keep coming together. You might want to come to with a little casual or formal fun; imagine hosting a party in your home with cowboy costume party or make it a zany dress formal occasion to watch the bulls get even and the cowboys try to make a little money. Throw some steaks on the BarB, or go veggie to support the bulls. Have a few laughs, and the rides don't last long, so you can BS all you want and not lose out on any of the action.

Hang on for the ride of your life, and you can do it in your living room without the accompanying foul barnyard smell. Of course, if you're into reality, you could bring home some sacks of steer manure and hide a couple behind the sofa, and let your guests have a maximum experience. Enjoy!
