Deadliest Sports in the World: Dare to Try?

This type of games is the most dangerous and deadly games in the world. Although there is a growing percentage of mortality rate, the number of people who engage in these sports is still evidently massive, especially the teenagers.

The Dakar Rally

This is the most dangerous race in the world, considering the fact that the cars, the motorcycles and the trucks that join this sport should travel miles per hour, specifically for motorcycles that need to travel not less than 30- 90 miles/hour. There have been a great number of deaths with this game, just looking at this sign would surely give you an idea of what is gonna happen: “Less than half the participants are expected to make it to the finish line.” Due to security reasons the route of the race always vary, but the sure thing is, it will be a 5700 mile journey for 15 days.

Street Lugging

This sport began in the 1970's when teenagers back then tried to try extreme games like this sport. The rider should go as fast as 40 - 115 miles per hour depending on the type of race. The only thing that separates you from the ground is an aluminum board which is elevated 2 inches from the ground.

Base Jumping

What is dangerous about this sport is that you do not have anything but your parachute as you jumped off a building or a cliff. As we all know, parachutes will not assure us of safety considering the fact that the wind can just blow us away. Skydiving is safer due to the fact that Base jumping is done at lower altitudes, thus having less aerodynamic control to have a stable flight. The number of deaths of this sport from the year it was made until now is not less than 122.

Bull Riding

Bull riding is one of the rodeo type sports since the player should ride at the back of the bull and try to stay there for at least 8 seconds. Although there have been many criticisms done by the animal right activist, this sport still exists.

Cave Diving

Cave diving is considered to be the most dangerous diving sports because if there are any emergencies, the diver could not readily swim upward, but he or she should swim horizontally until he or she reaches the entrance of the cave. The common problems divers could have with this sport are having hypothermia, getting lost, not having enough oxygen to complete the journey. A total of 500 totalities have been recorded in Florida, Mexico, and Caribbean alone.

Speed Skiing

The first dated trial of this sport was in the year 1898 by Tommy Todd. This sport is the most dangerous non-motorized sport on land because most skiers would reach a speed of 125 miles per hour which is even faster than the terminal velocity of a skydiver. Although this sport has fewer fatalities than other sports, safety should not always be disregarded.

What are your own choice of dangerous sports you want to share?

10 Necessary Things That Every Mountaineer Should Carry

Adventure sport enthusiasts include mountaineering as one of their favorites. Climbing the steep peaks and terrains where next to no one has placed foot on ,has its own category of excitement, which only few manage to experience .It includes trekking or hiking up known and sometimes extremely unknown and unpredictable paths around mountains . A certain standard of physical and mental fitness is required to get involved in this.

Preparedness is very important too, which separates the adventure from a disaster. Among the various advanced mountaineering gears available these days, the following list is nothing but small last minute checklist of certain things which everyone venturing up inhospitable terrains of mountains, should never forget.

1. Fire Starters & Matches: Certain emergencies require fire urgently. In the conditions of mountains where this can be a problem, fire starters of some kind is essential. Certain ideas home made fire starters are as follows:

Cotton balls with Vaseline rubbed thoroughly into them

Dried pine needles

Pieces of cardboard covered in wax

Sawdust/charcoal/ Pistachio shells in sections of a paper egg carton and covered in melted wax

Pine cones covered in wax

Paper cut into strips, rolled up, tied with strings and covered in melted wax

Putting 3-4 inch strings of cotton in paper cups fill it up with sawdust followed by melted wax, taking care as to leave an inch outside .The sawdust becomes waterproof and the extra inch acts as a wick for ignition.

With a fire starter ready, now matches are needed to ignite the fire. Wooden ones preferably long, are recommended. To prepare them for the trip, use "strike anywhere" matches bundled up and soaked in melted paraffin wax. This makes them waterproof/weatherproof and allows a longer burn time.

2. Flashlight: Traveling in low visibility conditions can be quite risky. To avoid useless injuries everyone should carry a flashlight of his own with extra sets of batteries. .

3. Extra Clothing: Excessive sets of useless clothing are not recommended though. Just one extra complete change of clothing is all that is needed to face situations of rain or cold. Sturdy long lasting ones should be preferred over designer brands here.

4. Compass: It's easy to lose direction at unknown terrains. Hence it's quite essential to carry a good compass. An extra one is always welcome in case the other one gets messed up.

5. Knife: The focus here should be on a simple, workable and sharp knife of a standard size to be used from cutting through vegetation to emergency situations involving fighting wild animals .A good Swiss army knife is fine.

6. Maps: To make the adventure memorable, a good map covering the best spots is a must. Apart from adding the safety factor, its better to know where you are, rather than wasting time getting lost.

7. Sunglasses: Whether it is cold winds or pieces of rock or snow, sunglasses will protect your eyes and help you see the beauty better, so just carry one.

8. Extra Food: Store some amount of extra food in your baggage for the unavoidable emergencies, which no one can predict. Avoid using it when other sources are available.

9. Space Blanket: This happens to be quite an invaluable necessity in the cold. Its is especially designed to reduce loss of the natural body heat and reflecting back nearly 85% of it .It consists of a plastic material coupled with a metallic reflecting agent. Being water and windproof it weights just around 2 ounces making it easy to carry.

10. First Aid Kit: A simple box with the basic necessities is all what is needed. Check to ensure the following are present:

Sterilized dressings/pads for direct application on wounds

Elastic/gauze/triangular bandages preferably elastic for use in situations of sprains and as slings etc

Adhesive bandages and sticking plasters

Instruments should include tweezers , shears, lighters, syringes and rubber suction pumps

Equipments should include disposable gloves, CPR masks, eye cups, thermometer, and sterile eye wash

Medication should include at least one antiseptic ointment, Painkiller(Aspirin), Antihistamine(Benadryl), Aloe Vera gel, Burn gel, Poison treatments(Activated charcoal) and QuikClot to prevent severe bleeding

Have a happy journey!

What Were They Thinking?! Seven Extreme Sports Videos That Will Give You Chills

No matter if you are an aspiring extreme sports junkie or if you are a couch potato there are athletes risking life and limb to bring us some of the most entertaining and exciting visual thrill rides in the world. Flying downhill on a Street Luge or tempting fate leaping off of a Cliffside the awesome camera angles will draw you into all of the action.

Extreme Norway Base Jumping

This video is almost ten minutes in length and it packs more punch in mind-boggling excitement, then can be put into words. These BASE Jumpers are taken that leap of faith every time their bodies spring off of the edge of the cliff in Norway. Dressed in Wingsuits (known as “The Flying Squirrel Suit”) and a parachute, one-by-one these highly skilled BASE Jumpers in a flying fall come within just a few feet from splattering on the cliff's hard rocky walls. The camera angles are really amazing and make this a fun thrill ride to watch. A broadband Internet connection is recommended to watch this video, because using dial-up Internet connection is extremely slow.

Whistler Bike Park Helmet Cam

It's time to take a bike ride down Whistler Mountain in Canada. This almost 3 minute video is fast, thrilling and dangerous as you watch this professional mountain biker fly down the mountain missing trees by inches, making awesome jumps and navigating narrow wooden foot bridges.

Crazy Mountain Bike Downhill

Whistler Mountain is a favorite travel destination for many of the world's best extreme mountain bikers and this video proves it. Using a helmet cam these riders puts the audience right into the action. Nailing scary looking jumps while flying through the woods following narrow dirt paths makes this the perfect blend of action, excitement and you will have a bird's eye view of all of the action.

Schyler Whitewater Rafting Video 6

This video was selected for this article, because having experience with whitewater rafting myself, I know how difficult this river run really is, but this professional rafters do make it look so simple. Reading the water. Avoiding the sharp, deadly boulders littering the passageways of billions of gallons of churning waters is freaky fun entertainment.

Extreme Whitewater Canada

Oops, did it again! Get ready to get virtually soaked with excitement as this very crazy whitewater rafters try to tackle a way too dangerous run of a river that no novice could risk on their own without possibly getting killed.

Wingsuit BASE Jumping in Switzerland

If I wasn't scared of heights this is a sport that would be quite exciting to try. Of course, there is no way in this lifetime that I would attempt crazy stunts that these Base Jumpers are participating in. The Wingsuits that they are wearing can actually allow the jumpers to fly nearly vertically as their bodies continue to fall like a ton of bricks back to Earth. This is a very entertaining extreme sports video that broadband Internet connection is recommended to get a fast and thrilling experience while watching it.

New York Street Luge Course

This fast paced, high energy street Luge video puts the audience right into the action as the rider flies down the street Luge course while filming all of the action using his helmet cam. Wrong mistake at these speeds can get the rider badly hurt or killed, but fortunately for this rider all is good and seeing it at the rider's view is very cool.

Seven Hidden Wonders of the Sporting World: The Seven Most Spectacular and Hardest Sporting Events in the World

There are many popular sports that everyone knows and loves, but there are also some very intriguing and exciting games that are relatively unknown. If you are interested in something out of the ordinary, or just have a curiosity about some of the uncommon sports of our time, take a look these spectacular but unknown sporting events.

Marathon de Sables

Although not a hugely competitive event, this does not make this race any easier. Covering 152 miles in six days, this event takes place in one of the most unforgiving environments in the world, the Sahara desert.

With many of the proceeds going to help African suffers of the debilitating physical disease, Noma, the event has grown in popularity over the years and is already sold out for 2010, with many every day people taking up the challenge of finishing the grueling event.

The Iditarod

The “marathon” of the north, this sled-dog race is run over 1151 miles (1,853 km) in ten to seventeen days (depending on conditions every year) on a path from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska as a tribute to a famous 1925 serum delivery.

Sled-dogging through Alaska's great frontier and some of the most beautiful and most unforgiving places on earth, the Iditarod is a test of personal will, experience and dog handling ability. Dubbed “the last great race” the tempatures have been known to hit negative 100 farenheit with wind chill during the competition.

Badwater Ultramarathon

There is hard, and then there is Badwater. The Badwater ultramarathon race is held every year, at the hottest time of the year in one of the hottest places on the planet, Death Valley.

The race is literally hell on earth with contestants having to run the entire 125miles on pavement and often finding themselves having to use only the painted lines of the road as their running surface to stop their shoes form melting and feet from burning.

Primal Quest

Officially the most intense adventure race on the planet, this ever moving event pits man against the elements and his opponents. Taking place over multiple days, trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, white water swimming and navigation are only some of the skills athletes need to rely on the finish this grueling test of endurance.

The US based race has used the most treacherous and breathtaking parts of Montana, the San Juan Islands off of Washington State and Utah as sites for the race.

Dakar Rally

Open to both amateurs and professionals, it is the hardest and most intense driving event in the world. This race was actually cancelled in 2008 due to terrorist threats. Still, even without suicide bombers, this rally car event proves time and time again to be one of the toughest endurance tests in the world. Taking contestants through rugged sand dunes, mud holes, and rocks the race itself is often considered a success if one finishes.

With a number of different classes to compete in the event sees anything from trucks to motorbikes making the trek. No stranger to criticism, the event has seen a fair number of people killed in crashes, including a 10 year old girl who was killed by one of the racer's cars as he was crossing the finish line.

Crocodile Trophy

Not very well known but growing in its popularity, the Crocodile Trophy is what the Tour de France can only claim to be, the hardest cycling event on the planet.

Taking place in the Australian outback the race exposes participants to harsh wind, extreme heat and terrain and a plethora of dangerous wildlife. Covering approximately 800miles over 10days, it is the most extreme stage bicycle race in the world.

Hawaii Ironman World Championships

Although it is not as “hidden” as it used to be, for how popular and far-reaching the event has become, the Hawaii Ironman World championships is still one of the most under covered and least publicized events in the world. Every year ten's of thousands of people attempt to qualify for this 2.4mile swim, 112mile bike, and 26.1mile run through smaller Ironman events held throughout the world.

At the race itself, the atmosphere itself is legendary with professional triathletes and amateurs lining up at the starting line together, each with a story of their own. The cross winds off the ocean and the marathon through the lengendary lava fields of Kona makes this most exciting, difficult and treasured one day endurance event in the world.

Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel, Jr.
(October 17, 1938 – November 30, 2007) was the father of all American motorcycle daredevils, a mega entertainer who was famous in the US and elsewhere, with an amazing career that began during the late 1960s. Evel Knievel's nationally televised motorcycle stunts, including his famed 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls, Idaho, represent four of the 20 most-watched ABC's Wide World of Sports events to date.

His awesome achievements earned him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, including his
