No one pointed that out because it is a myth and a lie. Look at the list of Greatest Players ever. Many of them come from the 1960's and early 1970's.

Get a clue. There were less teams then thus each team had a deeper squad.

You are the same person who would say that Mike Tyson fought better fighters than Ali.

No question Jordan was great but he is a media darling.

No one has pointed out the fact that basketball in the 60's was nothing compared to basketball of the 80's/90's. Jordan paved the way to what basketball is today. He dominated the game and changed it forever. That fact is undeniable.
The public must be CRAZY, Jordan is not even in the top best 25. Wilt scored 100 points. The NBA had to change the rules because of wilt Chamberlin, That alone says that Wilt is/was the best NBA player EVER.

7 of the top 10 rebounders of all time played in the days of Wilt and Russell. Plus less teams mean better teams. Also look at the All time record books my friend.

Again you are underselling the role players Jordan had. The media has seduced you into thinking that Jordan alone was the Bulls. That's a bunch of garbage. And you can't tell me players stunk back then and than argue that Russel wasn't the catalyst to the 11 Titles!

You also need a trip to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Oh and look at your list of great opponents Jordan played against. Notice none of them were guards? What great nemesis did Jordan face one on one?

yes they lost to the orlando magic when mj returned..but he came back half way of the season and i can say he is just human..he came back from the tragedy from his father also maybe he was rusty at that time 1 1/2 years without practice and he can post numbers like that..i can say the jordanless bulls lost to the knicks becuse jordan wasnt there..if he had played straight on after the their first 3peat maybe things would have been different..another thing when bill won his 11 rings i know he has some of help like bob cousy??and one more thing the time that wilt and bill played look at their opponents defense..what kind of defense is standing around??how many great players they had those days??how many teams??how many players in the league??i think that they stand out that much because back then they didnt have so many great players..they didnt have shaq, hakeem, david, patrick, shawn or karl to play against..while jordan have play agains those and the guys like clyde, magic, larry, isaiah, reggie, gary, charles, kobe, allen and all those other great players..i think that bill and wilt is great in thier own right and also if a dikembe mutumbo or a david robinson had been guarding a wilt chamberlain in their time i dont think he would score a hundred points i know hed score but i dont think it would be a hundred..but i think today jordan is still the barometer..

Again no question Jordan had the leadership. But if that is the criteria then your man is Bill Russell. He of 11 NBA Titles which is 5 MORE THAN 6!

Plus the Bulls made ot to the Eastern Conference Finals without Jordan and lost in GAME 7 with seconds left to the Knicks! And made it to the 2nd round the year after with Jordan's return.

It was a shame we didn't see what Len could have done.

one more thing the respect that he gets from his adversaries.. i only wished that len bias and michael jordan competed with one another..that would be the best rivalry in basketball history.. Hmmm.. I think wilt is great no question.. but i think jordan is the greatest..not because of his stats his exciting dunks and his fadeaway jumpshot.. it was because of his leadership and his court presence..look at his teammates in his 6 titles..what ever happened to luc longley in the other teams that he played on or the randy brown?? or the jud buechler??even scottie pippen when he was moved to the rockets or the blazers after the bulls run he didnt played as well when he was side by side with michael..basketball is a team sport..michael has this uncanny ability to bring the best in a player..and another thing jordan makes the plays when it needed when it counts the most..he steals the ball when it was needed..shoots the game winning shots countless times..he played with flu and yet scored 30+ or 40+ points and won the game..i think he defined MVP because when you removed him from the team the BULLS will be trash..

I agree except Wilt could play all five positions also. In fact he played some guard at Kansas.

But I will never forget what MAgic did to my 1980 76ers!

Some also say Bird should be considered because he ranks in the top 20 of a lot of major stats for his career. But again Wilt did it all except foul shooting.

I disagree with both choices, eventhough both were incredible players. Having grown up watching Wilt, I was always a big fan. And who couldn't be a fan of MJ, tongue and all.

But my vote will always go to Magic. Not because of stats, but he is still the ONLY NBA player that I've ever seen that could play all 5 positions, both defensively and offensively, as if it were his primary position. I cannot think of another player with that ability. I feel that this makes him the best overall player of all time. I think more people would see it this way if his career wasn't cut short.

I see Wilt as the most dominate of all time, and MJ as one of the most exciting, but Magic mostly played point guard at 6'9", and he was voted the best point guard of all time last year by ESPN! How many 6'9" point guards have there ever been in the NBA? I can think of only one. And again, how many players could/can play all 5 positions, and be very good at each?
