RAW Recap: 15th Anniversary

Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, DX and more were on hand for the 15th anniversary. With all that, anything could happen and did.

In the 15 years of Monday Night Raw, few of Vince McMahon's plans have actually come to fruition.

So it shouldn't have been surprising that his plan to congratulate himself on RAW's 15th anniversary didn't work out like he wanted.

McMahon attempt at a family portrait with his children Shane, Stephanie and Hornswoggle was interrupted by Triple H, who said his past with the McMahons made him feel like one of the family and also wanted to include all of Vince's past affairs. Shane left in disgust, and Stephanie sought to embarrass her dad by kissing Triple H. Hornswoggle was sad to see the photo op ruined, but Triple H cheered him up by bringing The Godfather and his girls out.

This was just the start of a long wild night:

  • Triple H's night was far from over, as he joined Ric Flair and Batista in an Evolution reunion. Randy Orton, however, said he'd rather be remembered as part of Rated RKO with Edge, and the two joined with Umaga in a six man tag match. Evolution won on disqualification when Umaga hit the referee, then got a low blow from Flair, a spear from Batista and the Pedigree from Triple H.
  • Jeff Hardy retained the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match, pushing Carlito off the ladder to get to the belt first. It remains to be seen how this will affect his match with Triple H Sunday at Armageddon.
  • Santino Marella wanted to focus on the future of RAW and challenged anyone to face him. He got Rob Van Dam, who only needed one kick to the head and a Five Star Frogsplash to beat him.
  • With Hornswoggle facing The Great Khali and no Finlay around, Hulk Hogan came to the leprechaun. Hogan took all of Khali's blows and threatened to slam him like Andre the Giant 20 years ago, but Runjin pulled his man away.
  • Irwin R. Schyster appeared to win a battle royal among 15 RAW legends, throwing out Sergeant Slaughter last. But then Ted DiBiase came out and paid IRS to jump out of the ring and give the Million Dollar Man the win.
  • Chris Jericho finally got a bit of revenge on the man who fired him two years ago, Eric Bischoff, taking down the former general manager with one shot. Orton then tried to ambush Jericho, but Y2J forced the champion to tap out in the Walls of Jericho.
  • Dusty Rhodes saw a dream come true as his son Cody won the World Tag Team Championship with Hardcore Holly. With the American Dream at ringside, Cody knocked Lance Cade out of the ring, allowing Holly to hit Trevor Murdoch with the Alabama Slam for the win.
  • Trish Stratus and Lita rarely saw eye to eye during their careers. But the former Women's Champions did agree that Jillian Hall's mouth needed shutting, as they double-teamed the Diva to break up her Christmas caroling.
  • Shawn Michaels challenged Mr. Kennedy to face his old friend Marty Jannetty. Kennedy beat Jannetty with a face-first DDT and then looked for some cheap shots afterward until Michaels and Triple H came out to confront him in a brief Degeneration X reunion.

At the end of it all, Vince McMahon tried to crown himself the greatest RAW superstar ever, and three others had something to say about it. He got a Socko Mandible Claw from Mick “Mankind” Foley and a chokeslam from the Undertaker before Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and offered to drink beer with McMahon before giving him the Stone Cold Stunner. Austin then declared the fans to be the greatest RAW superstars.
