“ Outside Looking In”
One of the more interesting thoughts flowing around cyberspace is what was the deal with Kanes meltdown on raw this past . Raj.com is reporting that over the week. Paul Bearer's web site has been inundated with hits about the “ Big Red Machine's” tirade about “ Is he alive or dead” is a hint that Bearer might be coming back. Bearer of course is playing real close to the vest with his comments , added fuel to the fire. In my mind this also adds new fuel to the speculation the Undertaker is going back to RAW. I think that involving Bearer is a good idea but since the plan is to load up Smackdown for the network change , I cant see them moving Undertaker back to RAW.
A blast from the past also popped up on ECW Tuesday night when HOF Tony Atlas appeared out of thin air. While its good to see some of the people that I grew up “white guilt” over the Michal Hayes thing with Mark Henry. Anyhow it couldn't hurt Henry to have a seasoned pro like Atlas to help him get over.
On the subject of ECW, while I applaud running up the guys from Florida Championship Wrestling who are ready, changing Wildcat Chris Harris's name was a really dumb idea. While his somewhat dubious rep has followed him to the WWE, he's known as Wildcat Chris Harris and the creative people at WWE should realize that the same people that watch their shows also watch the completion. They could have at least split the difference and called him “Wildcat Walker”. I certainly hope they don't screw with Ron Killings to much.
With Little Rey going to raw, there seems to be a push to get some more Mexican wrestlers up to RAW. It was all over the net that Rey was not happy about the move to Raw and they may be trying to smooth things over and increase their Latino demographic by getting some more lucha dores to Raw. Moving Rey to RAW was a calculated risk and Smackdown does draw more latino viewers , with Reys star power, it could workout better then they hoped.
And now to the DIVAS . The match for the new woman's belt at the “Great American Bash” will be Natalya Niedhart versus Michelle McCool . I have been talking for quite awhile about how the knockouts have been one upping the Diva's for a little bit. it's a good thing that they have a women's belt but if your going to add another one, it needs to be a TV championship that is defended on all three shows. This would help prop up the ratings on all three shows if they pick the right champion.
If Marijuana wasn't illegal they would already have their TV champion in Rob Van Dam. I know that there is microscope on the WWE as far as drugs go but RVD is in no way shape or form a Steroid case and in my mind, the phrase “ gifted athlete” gets thrown around a lot, try throwing around “Gifted wrestler”. Lets face a few facts. RVD is a huge pothead, he has never tested positive for performance enhancing drugs of any kind. He has been very pubic about his use of MJ, he does have some busts on his record, but he has never ever contributed to the steroid problem. He is a talent that is really missed and I hope that he comes back somewhere soon.
I know the plan was to put RAW and ECW together but they have pushed that back at least twice and I think that they are rethinking their plans about whether ECW is going to die on the SCI FI vine or whether it will live to fight another day. All I really have to say on this subject is Vince, if your going to kill ECW do it quick and as painless as possible for the hardcore fans that understand what the word Extreme means.
