Throughout the past six years, and even before that, we've seen a boom in the Women's division of professional wrestling. Some work as valets, some as wrestlers and most often both. These women have all been beautiful. Some of them a little more endowed chest then regular women. They're there for a reason to see sex to the men, and offer up entertainment to the female fans so they have someone to look up to. Nowadays the women are more of an extension of themselves unlike the men who all have some sort of gimmick or even stupid costume.
You have two different types of women, or Diva's as the World Wrestling Entertainment refers to them as. On one side you have the beautiful, but always scantily dressed, portrayer of sex with whore-like actions, and have the wrestling ability of a spatula. Then on the other side, you keep the beautiful woman, but you get the take-no-shit attitude, ass kicker who only shows just enough to keep the people guessing. She's still sexy, but shows it in a more classier way.
Lately, we as fans, have been witnessing a very slow death in women's wrestling, while the invasion of the silicone snatchers are coming in. We are seeing the slow dissipating departure of the women with actual brains and strength in the business. Away with the female wrestler and hello to the skanky air-heads.
Over the decades, we have witnessed some amazing talent in women's wrestling; Fabulous Moolah, Alundra Blayze/Medusa, Ivory, Jacqueline, Molly Holly, Chyna, Francine, and Trish Stratus. Not to mention the possible departure of Lita, quite possibly by the Survivor Series. The only women who are left on our roster who can actually wrestle is the grand total of seven; Lita, Mickie James, Victoria, Beth Phoenix, Jazz, Trinity, and someone who has had some pretty decent matches as of late, Jillian Hall. But there are at least 10 others who have zero in-ring talent and can not work in the ring at all, and that total is not including all of the 2006 Diva Search rejects who have been re-hired; Kelly Kelly, Torrie Wilson, Maria, Ashley, Layla El, Melina, Candice Michelle, Queen Sharmell, Michelle McCool and Krystal.
Not only can these chicks can not wrestle, but they are stuck doing these horrible gimmick matches when they do have to perform in the ring. Bra & panties, paddle-on-a-pole, lingerie pillow fights, and endless wet t-shirt, bikini and lingerie contests. And the most recent, Extreme Strip Poker. With the exception of Canada, which is apparently full of porn junkies, the Extreme Strip Poker edition of ECW, did a crappy rating of 1.7. Vince McMahon says sex sells, well doesn't that rating say otherwise?
I know girls who are upset with the incoming of all the sluts and door knobs. None of us are happy. And if the likes of these rip-off, skanky or dumb "Divas" actually ever win the women's championship, then it's officially over. That's killing the legacy of Moolah, Wendy Richter, Sensational Sherri, Lita, Ivory, and Trish. It completely tarnishes that Championship belt.
Maria may play a stupid moron on RAW, but I actually don't mind her as much as the rest of them. That could be because after watching the TBS reality show, Outback Jack before she ever did the 2004 Diva Search, I already knew that she was the farthest thing from an idiot. It may be degrading to us women watching her parade around as an air-head and watch paint dry, but who knows, she could be having fun. Despite that though, she still should not be in the WWE. Maybe if she worked in OVW or DSW for a few years and she actually learns how to be a wrestler then we would see.
Then we have what I like to call the rip-off girls: Girls who can't get their own look, gimmick or character. Candice Michelle has re-vamped Sables character, using the sex angle to sell her character like before. Michelle McCool probably ripping off the most obvious, Stacy Keibler's Miss Hancock character, and stealing Keibler's entrance too. Layla El has resumed the Christy Hemme roll as the ugly, useless as a fart roll. Krystal trying to be like Teri Runnels and do back stage interview in these outfits that are similar in style. Then there's the Lita rip-off. Ashley. She stole Lita's punk look, attitude and even the ex-boyfriend. I never really had a problem with Ashley until a friend of mine pointed this all out.
If the WWE has to recycle gimmicks and characters because these women can not come up with their own. If they aren't smart or creative enough to figure there own character out, then they shouldn't be there.
How degrading is it for us women who watch wrestling to see women slowly gyrating around in a circle? (ooh that takes so much talent and brains to spin....NOT) OR , spreading your legs apart to get into the ring. It's even worse seeing the 2006 Diva search moron/winner basically hump everything in site when she won, including Todd Grisham. I mean the guy probably never gets humped, but I don't think he was that desperate
I've said some pretty harsh words, some down right cruel even, bu the truth hurts. We would rather see the brainy, beautiful and well-trained women in wrestling then the bimbos that we have been getting lately.
