By the looks of Federer's recent performance at the French open and during his past performances,
his reign as number one is coming to a quick end. The soon-to-be 27 year old has not been performing up to par
with todays new up and coming players. Nadal for one easily breezed through federer during this year's French Open final,
dropping only 4 games! It's inevitable, the French Open is one title federer will never grasp in his hands, unless
by the off chance Nadal retires during the French, then that is Federer's best bet to win it.
Everyone claimed that Federer would surpass Sampras easily, yet Federer is still 2 majors away from even matching Sampras'
feat. There are many players though who are leaving their mark on today's game. Other then Nadal, the recent Australian Open
champion Novak Djokovic has already stopped Federer from reaching the Australian Open final. Djokovic's aggressive game has
put many players to shame, his number 3 ranking in the ATP rankings is no surprise from seeing his control and feel on
the ball. He played federer in the US Open final last year only to lose it after having a few set points in both the first
and second set, but now Djokovic is now confident he will win other majors now that he already has one under his belt.
Many still have hope in Federer's game, there is no doubt that his skill and mastery of the court could convince anybody of
his greatness in this sport, but the grinders and aggressive players are slowly but surely are putting an end to Federer's
reign at number one.
