Beijing Olympics: The Comedies and Tragedies

The comedies and tragedies of the Beijing Olympics.

The 29th edition of the Olympics as many people had predicted was absolutely a great one with many new records being set. Among the various things that made it a very interesting one is that it was a combination of tragedy and comedy. Even if I was not yet born during many past Olympics, yet with the history I read and the ones I saw, I am making a stand that it should be one of the best. There are many things to talk about in the comedy aspect of the just concluded Beijing Olympics and one of them is the Usain Bolt of Jamaica who was said to show no respect for his competitors after setting a new world record of 9.68. Immediately after the race the new record was shown for everyone to which he went there stood by it and started dancing reggae which he frequently said was what that inspired him.

Another one was the news that horses were testing positive to drugs which I think is a funny thing. We have gone to the extent of injecting drugs into horses in the Olympic Games and not only ourselves anymore. It is indeed a bad idea if I may say and I know the authorities will have done something about it. The tragedy aspect was that those countries that people had expected will take most of the medals fumbled. Imagine USA dropping to second on the Olympic ranking and also Nigeria who had promised and promised to bring back home at least 10 gold medals bringing back just 2 silvers. I think by now USA should still be sad about their performance at the Beijing Olympics and be making amendments.

However the Beijing Olympics shall be a memorable one for everyone. It was the Olympics that some countries got their first medal. It was then Olympics that USA fell. It was the Olympics that the so called the giant of Africa (Nigeria) fumbled again in terms of track and field. It was the Olympics that Argentina became the first country to keep their soccer Gold since Hungary. It was the Olympics that China, the host country rose to the first on the Olympic ranking and Great Britain rising to fourth. Many wonders and many achievements were in the Beijing Olympics and as far as I am concerned, it was one of the best if not the best Olympics ever experienced.

As a Jamaican, we went Insane from Usain broke the first record.
The dance he did is called "The Gully Creeper" and another one
is called "Nah Linga".

We were so totally livid about what Rogge said; Bolt had
right to celebrate.

Americans can't win?
