The first skateboard I ever had was a darkstar armor light team series board with venture ultra-light trucks and bones swiss labyrinth bearings. The board had a width of 7.5” and was EXTREMELY light. I loved this board so much because of how light it was, but I think this was a problem. Because my first board was a darkstar armor light, I was so used to the extreme lightness of the board that whenever I tried to do anything on any other board that wasn't a darkstar armor light, I'd mess up because it was too heavy for me.
I think that darkstar is an awesome brand and I would recommend this board and any other darkstar to anyone looking for a board but beware that if you do get an armor light as your first board, you'll be sucked in and it will be hard for you to ride any other board. Although this sounds bad, I think that a person would like darkstar enough that it wouldn't matter because they'd be happy just riding darkstars. That's the way it is for me and I don't think I will ever ride a different brand of board.
Also, I don't recommend people going to stores and buying already complete decks because most of the time, the board will be nice but the bearings or trucks will be bad. Instead I suggest going online to certain shops and putting together your own board that they can put together and ship to you. One board-builder online that I like is this . Here, you can put together your own board, trucks bearings, wheels and hardware that you can pick right on the site.
