It was introduced in late 2007 and is basically a 10/22 with a pistol stock. It uses the 10/22 action and accepts the same magazines as the 10/22, even the high capacity models.
The only model available right now is pictured above. It comes with the bipod and a scope mount already on there. All you need to do is buy an optic, there are no iron sights.
The Ruger 22 Charger is 20 inches long (50 cm) and has a 10 inch (25 cm) barrel. Due to state regulations, the 22 Charger Pistol is not available for sale in CA, CT, HI, MD, MA, NY, OH (city of Toledo only) and IL (city of Aurora only).
You can purchase it for around $300 at most places, a little pricey for basically a short 10/22. If you're a 10/22 collector, definitely pick one up. If you just want to get into the game, buy a regular 10/22 carbine for half the price. It's practically the same gun.
