Formula One Racing Car

Formula one racing cars represent the height of car design.

Formula one racing cars represent the height of car design. At present, formula one car must have an engine that is no larger than 3 liters capacity, or 1.5 liters if they are fitted with a turbocharged or supercharged engine.

The 3 liter cars usually have 8 or 12 cylinder, while the smaller one have 4- or 6- cylinder units. In either case the driver of one of these cars has a lot of power at his disposal, and needs wide, soft rubber tires to help keep all that power on the road.

A formula one car has a 5- or 6- speed gearbox, so the driver can always keep the engine revving at the right speed for maximum power, no matter how fast he is going. Top speed in one of these cars can be as high as 320 km/h

Grand Prix cars change very rapidly, usually every season and sometimes more often unsuccessful. The designers have to be imaginative, and there have even been cars with four wheels at the front and at the rear, although most still have just four wheel altogether.
