Quarterbacks make mistakes all the time, but there are a couple of mistakes that make a coach go crazy. These are small mistakes that will make your team pay for the mistake. So remember these mistakes and correct yourself if you make them often.
First, never look at where the play is going. It is a tendency for quarterbacks to visualize where the play is going so they look where the ball will be going. If it's a pass the corners or safety's will know right where you're throwing to. That is an easy interception if you know where the ball is going. As everyone knows coaches hate it when their quarterback throws inceptions. If you run the ball the linebackers will be waiting to layout your running back or yourself. To correct this easy mistake is very simple. You need to learn all of your plays at perfect as you can so you can think where the ball will go inside your head. Second, you just don't look where the ball will go it's that simple.
The next mistake is holding onto the football. Many quarterbacks drop back or scramble with only one hand on the ball. If they get hit that ball will go flying. When you are ever holding the ball always have 2 hands on it or tucked into your side. This will limit turnovers for your team and will make you look better as a quarterback. It could also mean the difference for the outcome of the game.
The last mistake that will ruin you is: throwing into double or triple coverage. Take your time when you pass. It is better to throw an incomplete pass or get sacked then throwing an interception. Look at all of your options if no one is open then look for the run. If no one is open run your but off. Your objective isn't to pass every time and complete the pass. It's to get yardage to get the first down. That also leads me onto another mistake. Get the first down. Don't go for deep bombs for touchdowns every play. Get 3, 4 yards per play and you will score on that drive. Football is a game of yards not throwing up prays. Take time on your drives.
Take these mistakes to mind. Limit these mistakes and you will win those close games. If you make one of those mistakes its all right just recover from it and not do it again.
