AJ Hackett , the New Zealand Daredevil and my personal hero will smash the old record of 700 metres and is going to bungy 1.5 kilometres off a helicopter. This is like skydiving but with no parachute and he's even going to try to touch the ground !
AJ Hackett is one of the founders of Bungie worldwide and has done some amazing things like bunging the Auckland sky tower and the Eiffel tower! "I do get a bit scared sometimes but I'm still able to split the emotion from the logic," Hackett told the media.
Hackett will be falling around 140km/h and experience over 40 seconds of free fall. "There we developed this new... tapered bungee cord, fatter at the top than it is at the bottom. It means you can stretch them a long, long way. With standard cords that you have today you just can't do that because they break," Hacket said. This guy knows his stuff and if it is achieved will be one of the most staggering feats of human endurance.
Later this year also, Michel Fournier, an retired French army Colonel, is jumping off a Balloon over 40,000 metres high ( 25 miles ). This is on the very edge of space. Fournier will experience re-entry into the earths atmosphere and the first person to break the sound barrier wearing just a protective suit.
