My friend and i have been backyard cricketing, tennis for years.
And everytime you get those cheap tennis balls that cost like $2 for 4?
they don't have as much bounce, very bad seam, which will break, and terrible fur.
Okay, to make the most of these babies, first i suggest hitting them in softly, with a solid object. like a cricket bat, a tennis racket tends to tear the fur easier, and trust me, you don't want that.
Ok, now that they've been tapped in a bit, and are harder all over, you can start to hit them harder against a fence, or even put it in a stocking, tie a rope around it, hand up the rope and tap it back n forth.
Ok. now the ball should be rather solid. i suggest you now using it to play backyard cricket. and if your mind is set on tennis, bounce it on a court for a few minutes, giving it more bounce and getting it used to being on that surface.
I hope everyone can benefit from this lovely guide. thank you.
