Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao grabs the WBC Superfeatherweight title with a split decision from defending Mexican boxer Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez bringing another glory to the Philippines. The match is brought about by Bob Arum's Top Rank and Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy promotions in Mandalay Bay Resort and casino in Las Vegas on March 16, 2008.
In the first two rounds of the bout, Manny is not able to hit solid punches on the veteran Marquez. This is due to the cleverness and mastery in the art of boxing of Marquez. In addition, showing handful techniques because of the rigorous training that the antagonist has prepared, Pacman have a hard time sticking good shots. Marquez' rounds shall I say…
The third round is where the Mandalay bay gets shaken by the thunderous roar of the spectators. Here, Pacman's superweapon is unleashed sending his opponent on the canvas. This is about half a minute or so to the end of the round. Pacman continues his onslaught, after the 8 second count by the referee making his opponent hold the rope to maintain his balance. If it is not the bell ringing, the match would have ended.
Exchange of blows and punches are thrown on the following rounds. Both fighters show courage, heart and eagerness to win the match. And there are moments that make every audience shiver and shout. Outbursts of emotions fill the arena with every hit and blow. However, the Filipino hero Pacquiao has the bigger heart and talent over the other leading him to glorious victory.
Pacman wins in a split decision and much of his Filipino comrades are proud for this achievement. Filipino's outburst overwhelmed the mexican's, saying “Mabuhay ka Pacquiao!”
