Here we go another NBA draft and plenty of underclassman to choose from. Is this the right choice for many of these young men or are they in for years of struggle. A lot of the underclassmen who have declared for the NBA draft have talent their is no mistaking that. I just question some of these players and where they are getting their advice to turn pro.
I will use two examples of players who in my opinion will struggle the next few years. Greg Oden and Kevin Durant would have better off staying at least one more year before they decided to go pro. Both players will be either number one picks or number two picked player in the NBA draft. The two teams in line for the picks are Boston and Memphis. Both teams are horrible and it's true either player would help them but not right away.
Oden is talented, but he has no real game to speak of and staying in college would help his game and he could improve on his low post moves and develop a inside outside game. A perfect example is Tim Duncan who stayed four years and learned to refine his game and now look at him.
Durant is in the same mold and he's a scorer and will put up the points. One big difference though he will be banged every night and teams will throw things at him he never had a chance to see in college. Their are many top stars from college who play in the NBA development league. Why is that? Simply put they aren't good enough yet to get a chance in the NBA. I hope some of these underclassmen don't end up their or worse not even make it because they left early for the money.
