Sports leagues were not always as prestigious as they are today. Back in the day there was racial segregation amongst the leagues. There were many important events that happened along the way to help change the attitude toward African-American's. (E.g. Civil war.) During this time many influential people such as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X had to pay with their lives because they stood up for what they believed in, but their death was not in vain, because society around them had had enough and they also stood up for equal right and freedom. Many people believe that this is not happening in our time but as long as there are white supremacists there will continue to be racial segregation with sports leagues, and our communities.
