The San Jose Giants came back from two games down to win the California League championship.
The Giants won the final three games of the championship series against the Lake Elsinore Storm, winning Game Five 7-1. It was the second time in three years San Jose came back from 0-2 against Lake Elsinore to win the pennant, and its fourth title as a San Francisco Giants affiliate.
Henry Sosa, Adam Cowart, Jason Waddell and Sergio Romo combined for a two-hitter, retiring the last 19 Storm hitters.
Brian Bocock broke open the game with a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Mark Minicozzi tied the game with a solo shot in the second, and Kyle Haines had a go-ahead hit in the third. Travis Ishikawa had a two-run, eighth-inning homer.
Minicozzi was the series MVP, hitting .437 in the post season.
San Jose started the 0-2 comeback with a 2-0 win in Game Three. Joe Martinez allowed four hits in over six innings. Fred Lewis drove in a run in the first inning and Anthony Contereras hit a fifth inning home run.
The Giants won Game Four 6-1, powered by Pablo Sandoval's three-run homer. Darren Sack, Ronnie Ray and Osiris Matos combined to allow one run on for hits.
Lake Elsinore won Game One 7-6 and Game Two 3-2. Jose Lobaton's 10th inning RBI hit completed a six run comeback in the first game. Nathan Culp gave up one run in seven innings and Craig Cooper drove in two runs in the second.
San Jose advanced to the post season by winning the North Division's first half of the season at 39-31, got a bye into the second playoff round and defeated the Visalia Oaks in four games.
Lake Elsnore got the South Division's second half spot at 37-32, defeated the Inland Empire 66ers in the maximum three games of the first round and beat the Lancaster JetHawks in four games.
