Some people may want to write off the twins for 2008. Well, they lost their ace pitcher (who happens to be one of the best starting pitchers in the league) and their starting centerfielder. However, I am not so sure to say they are of 2008. They still have one of the best bullpens in the league, wielding the likes of Joe Nathan, Pat Neshek, and Matt Guerrier. Joe Nathan got himself 37 saves last year along with a 1.88 ERA. Neshek had a 2.94 ERA, while Guerrier had himself a 2.35 ERA.
Besides their great bullpen they also have great middle of the line-up. Michael Cuddyer, Justin Morneau, and Jason Kubel make up this middle of the line-up. Justin Morneau had 31 homeruns and 111 RBIs.
The Twins can win some games with their bullpen and their middle line-up. The Twins also have two young players on their team. They have former number one draft pick, Delmon Young, and 22 year old centerfielder Carlos Gomez. If these two young guys have a good season in 2008, the Twins could be a better team than expected.
The biggest weakness that I think I see is the Twins infield. However the Twins may have a good season.
This has been my 2008 team preview of the Minnesota Twins.
